However, because it is made from an economical, lightweight polyester rather than heavy nylon, it is not built for continuous year-round outdoor exposure. Because polyester is a synthetic material, heat settings must be managed carefully. The easiest way to smooth out packing folds is to hang the flag flat in a warm bathroom during a hot shower. Alternatively, you can use a clothing steamer on its lowest, coolest setting—avoid pressing down with hot household irons, as intense dry heat can scorch the fibers.

To keep the flag's colors looking bright, hand wash or rinse manually using cold water and mild liquid soap. Always air dry your flag completely before folding or storing. Avoid using high heat dryers, as intense machine heat can damage the synthetic polyester fibers.
